The Will
Our God owes us nothing. We owe God everything.
Through the occurrence of original sin and the mercy of Jesus Christ who suffered on the cross for us, we are given grace to receive the joy which surpasses any we can receive in our current life.
God created each of us for a purpose. In obedience to the words of our Catholic mass prayer, the Gloria, we find the grace to meet our true calling. Here we recollect our eternal source of joy which comes in praising God, in blessing and adoring and glorifying the love that caused us to be, and in giving thanks for God’s great and unchanging goodness which does not disappoint.
With each day and every blessing, joy, challenge, and sorrow we are given an opportunity to discover the will of God for our lives.
“The Will” is a song that I wrote over 40 years ago. It rings true in my life today as it did back then. Love is what we seek. Love radiates from God and has been sown into our inmost being. The highest purpose of our lives is to live the will of our Maker, chosen for our collective and eternal good.
I made this recording of “The Will” three years ago when my husband was undergoing chemotherapy treatment. He was suffering the acute effects of leukemia for which he would undergo a bone marrow transplant through the miracle of modern medicine from a donor halfway around the world. Such is the nature of God’s will for us. All are givers and receivers of God’s mercy and wonder. We uncover our path to eternity one day at a time.
Bless our God whose love and goodness is constant and available to us in all circumstances. Holy Spirit, bless us to uncover the will of the Maker in our lives.
